“Just keep in mind: the more we value things outside our control, the less control we have” -Epictetus

The last pillar of health we will look at is Mindset.

Mindset includes the perspective or viewpoint that you use to examine or review daily situations in your life. Mindset can be a major influence in determining your daily activities or even planning your path through life.

There are many philosophies that can be used as ingredients as we create our own mindset. This isn’t an exhaustive look at those philosophies, but merely a simple look at what mindset is and isn’t and some quick tips that might be able to improve or reframe you mindset.

If you’d like to dive deeper into this pillar of health, be sure to check out the resources posted below for some books that I’ve found invaluable in creating my mindset and I hope you do too.

  • The Antidote: Happiness for People That Can’t Stand Positive Thinking by Oliver Burkeman

  • The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living by Ryan Holiday
