How RAPID NFR Works to Treat Your Pain
If you’re currently experiencing painful movement or chronic pain, and you’ve tried other solutions and didn’t get the results that you wanted…then perhaps RAPID NFR can help. This post looks at how RAPID NFR works to relieve your pain.
Effects of Pain
Looking at the effects of pain starts with some kind of unhealthy tissue. Trauma or lack of movement causes tissues to become abnormal or unhealthy. This is what we’ll refer to as an adhesion. This adhesion prevents the body’s mechanoreceptors from working correctly. Mechanoreceptors are specialized sensing structures that detect different types of pressures and tensions within the body. This “bad signal” get sent to the brain and is registered as pain. Pain prevents the body from both planning and carrying out movement (think how you walk differently if you’ve ever sprained an ankle or even stubbed your toe). This continued pattern of bad movement patterns contribute to longer term impact to the affected tissues. The diagram below illustrates this cycle.
How RAPID Works to Treat Pain
Ok, so back to our friends, mechanoreceptors…When stimulated, mechanoreceptors send signals that can have various effects within the body - some signals cause tissues to relax while others cause increased fluid flow and the release of pain relieving chemicals.
RAPID NFR techniques target specific mechanoreceptors in the outer layer of bones (periosteum) STRONG stimulation of these receptors causes increased fluid flow into and out of the targeted region. The receptors also send a signal to the central nervous system. This causes the brain to release pain relieving chemicals, which help to deactivate the “angry” pain receptors, as well as releasing other chemicals that help the body tissue to repair itself. This process can be seen in the diagram below.
What Does A RAPID Treatment Feel Like?
▪Hypersensitive areas are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements
▪RAPID sessions may be uncomfortable during the movement phase of the treatment. This occurs as the neurological system is being stimulated to restore normal function
